The Drawing Office, with the additional furniture on order,
should also be adequate. Improvement in the artificial lighting is
essential.
The provision of a Science Laboratory is the most pressing
need, and it is earnestly hoped that this will be provided at an
early date. Apart from the fact that the teaching of science is
essential in a Junior Technical School, this will provide the only
room in which the two sections of one year can meet at the same time.
With regard to class rooms, when the upstairs quarters are
made available for school purposes in June, there will be a total
of 3 class rooms, each capable of holding a maximum of 20 students.
When four years are in operation a total of eight rooms will be
essential to accommodate 120 to 160 boys viz.
Drawing Office.
Science Laboratory.
Carpenters shop.
Five class rooms.
For this reason it is hoped that two additional class rooms
will be provided along with the labobatory, or that provision will
be made for their erection early in 1934.
The only remaining accommodation which may be required for Junior Technical School purposes could easily be erected on the land which would be surplus after the erection of the laboratory.
This would consist of a building with two rooms viz.,
(1) A room about 25 feet square to contain the engine
and other parts required for drawing and "Technical English" instruction.
(2) A small machine shop.
Looking ahead, it will be necessary to decide whether in 1937
accommodation is to be provided for part time day students from
the Dockyards. Present arrangements will leave no accommodation
